Batch ’85 leads Homecoming 2010

The Grand Alumni Homecoming will be hosted by Batch 1985 and spearhead by Mr. Ramil Jamen, Batch ’85 President.

Year-long activities such as community outreach programs are lined up by the host batch to make the event livelier and more memorable.

The said event falls every Easter Sunday of the Roman Catholic calendar. As usual, a motorcade will open the event around the poblacion which is to be followed by the grand homecoming party in the evening of April 4, 2010.

HS varsity wraps up 2nd in Div Sportsfest; Elem pupils qualify Div Meet

The SMCC High School varsity wraps Second in the Division Sportsfest last December 15, 2009 at Kitcharao. The sportsfest was sponsored by the Department of Education with the cooperation of Gov. Erlpe John Amante.

SMCC team led the scores in the first three quarters but luck was not on their side that they extend overtime for the split decision and settled at 89 – 90 against Mindanao Institute (MI).

The basketball challenge was participated by all secondary schools throughout Agusan del Norte.

Meanwhile, two Elementary pupils also fared well in the District Meet. Dianne Apatan, grade four won the first place in the table tennis event and Adamson Macaraeg, grade six, second in chess last August 21, 2009 held at Nasipit Central Elementary School.
 
The District Meet was participated by schools from the East and West zones .

Apatan and Macaraeg will qualify to the Provincial Meet on February 3 – 5, 2010 to be held in Nasipit.
 
TESAW gets SEC approval

“It’s a dream come true!” exclaimed Dr. Dennis P. Mausisa.

The Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally granted and acknowledged the Teatro, SAyaw at Awit (TESAW) Performing Arts, Inc. and is legally allowed to hold cultural activities nationwide.

TESAW, the only SEC recognized performing center in the province of Agusan del Norte, was the brain behind several prestigious cultural and social events in the CARAGA region. It also has programs for cultivating the talents and skills of the students and offers a scholarship program to those qualified performer(s). Vincent Calonia, a second year Education student, is granted the scholarship being also the President of the TESAW organization.
